A coral island 85 kilometres north of Mahé, Denis enjoys particularly lush vegetation with an abundance of coconut palms and casuarina trees which fringe the white sand beaches surrounding virtually the whole of the island. The clear, warm waters of its lagoon are protected by coral reefs providing sheltered swimming year round. The island is at the edge of the Seychelles Bank and beyond the reef the ocean plunges to a depth of over 2,000 metres. These waters are renowned for the abundance of game fish and provide excellent fishing throughout the year.

Nestled amongst the trees at the north-western tip of the island lies the delightful Denis Island Resort. With just 25 secluded rooms in self-contained cottages it is the perfect hideaway for those seeking a genuinely tranquil holiday experience. The L-shaped building at the heart of the resort houses the bar and restaurant which serves local and international dishes at dinner in an attractive yet informal atmosphere (gentlemen are requested not to wear shorts after 7 p.m. … but shoes are not compulsory.)A buffet dinner is served beachfront once or twice a week and breakfast and lunch are always buffet style. In addition there is a lounge, small boutique and pharmacy plus a small library and TV room.

Activities are largely based on the crystal, blue waters which surround the island and snorkel equipment, canoes and windsurfing are available to guests. Diving and fishing excursions can also be arranged. For those who prefer dry land there is a tennis court and a number of pathways and trails which wind through the coconut groves and afford a pleasant and rewarding way to explore the island. These include a nature trail and a jogging trail for the more energetic.

The 25 cottages are spread through the grounds on either side of the main building. They are all well appointed and designed and decorated to reflect the Creole style. Each has a double bed (with mosquito net), bath and shower, a lounge area with mini-bar and tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fans and verandah and come complete with hair dryer and ironing facilities.

The flight time from Mahé is approximately 30 minutes. Flights are daily (except Wednesdays).
