"L'ile revee... "

A touch of paradise in the heart of the Indian Ocean, Alphonse Island, is a coral atoll some 500 kilometres south-west of Mahé. Triangular in shape and virtually enclosing a turquoise lagoon, the island is only 1.2 kilometres wide and clothed with tall coconut palms which shelter the elegant resort beneath their gently waving fronds.

The hotel and the bungalows stretch along a white sand beach just a few metres from the gentle waters which are protected by the living coral reef. The bar and restaurant are situated around the central pool area and are open-sided, cooled by the gentle tropical breeze. Meal service is normally Table d'hote with an occasional buffet.

The 25 individual chalets rest on pillar, each with thatched roof and private verandah. All are air-conditioned, elegantly furnished and have international direct access telephone, TV, mini-bar, ceiling fan, individual safe, queen-size bed (or twins on request), bathroom with bath and African Style outdoor shower.

The 5 executive villas are more spacious and modern. The centre piece of each villa is a large terrace (50m²) with private Jacuzzi. The main room with the bedroom and lounge (60m²) provides facilities for the discerning guest; international direct access telephone, mini-bar, television, ceiling fan, individual safe, queen-size bed, air-conditioning and a luxury en suite with multifunction shower cabin (cascading shower, Turkish bath and Turbo massage)

The lodge's 'Bijoutier' restaurant opens onto the lagoon and swimming pool. It offers a feast of gastronomic delicacies and boasts a host of varied and innovative dishes where exotic fruits and vegetables are blended with the catch of the day to acquaint visitors with the authentic, refined delights of Creole cuisine.

The poolside bar 'Lys' is located in the heart of the hotel, a sure way to meet fellow guests and discuss the catch of the day or the dive of the day. The Billiard room can be transformed to host conferences or meetings, allowing guests to remain in touch with the business world.

As you would expect most of the activities available are based on the ocean - snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing, and canoes and pedalos are available to guests and excursions by boat to neighbouring islands can be arranged at an extra charge, as well as fishing trips and diving. On land the hotel has a tennis court and billiards room.

Fly-fishing enthusiasts will have their art tested to the limits, as the sandy flats of St. Francois are said to be one of the best spots in the world for saltwater fly fishing.

The flying time from Mahé is approximately 60 minutes on a daily basis.
