Air Travel - Air Seychelles

Air Seychelles withdrew its international flights from Europe to Seychelles, including from London, in January 2012. The airline now primarily operates the inter-island flights within the Seychelles, although it does have long haul routes from Seychelles to Johannesburg, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and now Paris.

Air Seychelles has announced that from early July 2014, it will launch twice weekly flights from Paris CDG to Seychelles. All services will operate via Abu Dhabi, with Air Seychelles deploying its brightly-coloured Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route, offering 18 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 236 seats in Economy Class. Flights from Paris will depart on Wednesday and Friday evenings, arriving in Seychelles the following lunchtime; return flights will depart on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, arriving Paris at breakfast time. Connections will be available from many UK regional airports.

Most inter-island flights in Seychelles are operated by small aircraft, often with around 15-20 seats. Luggage space is restricted, and the baggage allowance is restricted to 10kgs or 15kgs per person on some flights. Excess baggage may, however, be left at the main airport on Mahé. We therefore recommend you travel light, particularly to the smaller outlying islands. Timetables can also vary due to weather conditions. Last, but not least, it may also be necessary to spend the first and/or last night of your holiday on Mahé to allow for international flight connections.

If you are planning an island hopping holiday, please bear in mind that all inter-island flights operate from Mahé, which means that if you wish to fly from Praslin to Bird, for example, you must make a connection through Mahé. Bird and Denis Islands are served with a daily flight from Mahé, while Praslin has frequent flights every day. La Digue is then accessible via ferry from Praslin. The islands of Cousine, North and Fregate are served by chartered helicopter.
